BOHEMIA, NY - In late 2017, President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which among other changes, lowered the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% beginning in 2018. Inspired by AT&T’s similar announcement, DTB decided to share some of the benefits with its employees in the form of bonuses. Just before the holidays, employees were informed that they would be receiving a $400 bonus check in early January as a special payout related to the changes in the tax laws. The Company also paid both the employee and employer share of payroll taxes associated with this bonus in order to maximize the impact to employees.

“As a Company, Dayton T. Brown is going to save a significant amount of money from this change in tax law, and we have many different options on how to best use these additional funds,” said Stephen Marini, Senior Vice President and CFO. “With that said, nothing at our Company is possible without our dedicated employees, and so our first decision was to make sure that a portion of the savings was shared with our employees.”

Other changes in the tax law make it more advantageous to purchase equipment and invest in the business, which is likely another use of the tax savings and should be beneficial to all.

In early January, DTB’s full-time and part-time employees were provided with $400 bonus checks for their dedicated service to the Company.
