DTB Wins Metro-North Railroad Contract

BOHEMIA, NY - Dayton T. Brown, Inc. (DTB) has been awarded a contract for $3.4 million from Metro-North Railroad (MNR) to plan, build, and operate a Positive Train Control (PTC) Communications Testing Lab in DTB’s Bohemia location.

“We’ve been very fortunate to partner with Metro-North Railroad on this exciting opportunity and are ready to begin the project immediately,” said Tom Volpe, Senior Director of Business Development for DTB.

For over 10 years, DTB has provided testing and engineering support to MNR on multiple programs, including several related to the implementation of PTC. DTB’s experienced subject matter experts have consistently delivered value to MNR and have proven to be beneficial to the project schedule, safety, and execution of these programs.

The new PTC Lab is expected to be outfitted with new state-of-the-art equipment to test the PTC communication system and components efficiently, accurately, and safely. DTB’s engineers and technicians will staff the new Lab, drawing from years of engineering and testing experience to support the PTC communications components, subsystems, and systems. PTC technology is vital to the safety of the railways and is required to be implemented by all rail operators by the end of 2020.

Tom Zimoulis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Engineering & Test Division remarked, “DTB is thrilled to work with Metro-North Railroad once again, and we hope that this new Lab will benefit all rail systems in the Northeast Corridor.”
